Fmail

Our own free disposable email service, running entirely on Cloudflare's edge.

The challenge

People hand their real address to every free trial, download gate and Wi-Fi login. The inbox floods, and personal data spreads across hundreds of services. A throwaway address fixes that. It has to be instant and private, and cheap enough to run for free.

Our approach

There is no account. A visitor types a name and lands in a live inbox, with a random address one click away. Mail never touches a traditional mail server. Cloudflare Email Routing hands each message to a Worker, which checks the address, parses the email and stores it. A Durable Object for that inbox then pushes it to every open tab over a WebSocket, so it appears the moment it lands.

Private by default

  • Every inbox and message carries an expiry. An hourly job deletes expired mail, attachments and inboxes.
  • Google Analytics loads only on the production domain.

Built to be found

  • 52 articles on disposable email, privacy and spam.
  • Comparison pages against well-known temp mail services, plus pages for specific use cases.
  • Structured data, generated share images and keyword-focused URLs.

The outcome

Fmail runs with no servers to manage. Mail is received, stored, pushed live and cleaned up on its own. That keeps the service fast and the running cost close to zero.
